2027 Cadillac LYRIQ vs 2027 Cadillac OPTIQ: Which EV Is Right for You?

2027 Cadillac LYRIQ vs 2027 Cadillac OPTIQ: Which EV Is Right for You?

Choosing between the 2027 Cadillac LYRIQ and OPTIQ is less about finding a winner and more about finding your fit. Both offer electric power and thoughtfully equipped cabins. The LYRIQ takes the larger SUV approach, while the OPTIQ brings Cadillac comfort into a smaller package. Your usual passengers, parking space and weekend plans can help point you towards the right one.
For drivers in Nanaimo, that might mean balancing weekday errands with longer drives along the coast. Range matters, of course. So do the seat you settle into, the space behind it and the way the vehicle fits your routine.

Start With the Space You Actually Use

Both SUVs seat five across two rows. Neither adds a third row, so the decision centres on how much vehicle you want around those five seats. Cadillac lists maximum cargo capacity of approximately 1,722 litres for the LYRIQ and 1,614 litres for the OPTIQ with the rear seats folded. The LYRIQ therefore provides more total loading room.
That extra capacity may appeal if you regularly carry bulky luggage or outdoor equipment. The OPTIQ still offers useful flexibility for shopping bags and weekend belongings. Before deciding, consider what you carry most often. A maximum cargo figure is helpful, but checking how your stroller, suitcase or pet carrier fits can tell you much more.
The smaller OPTIQ is worth considering if you prefer a more compact SUV. The LYRIQ deserves a closer look if additional cargo capacity matters more than keeping the vehicle’s overall size down.

Five Numbers to Bring Into Focus

Specification 2027 Cadillac LYRIQ 2027 Cadillac OPTIQ
Estimated maximum range with RWD Up to 525 km Up to 510 km
Available regular AWD power 515 hp 440 hp
Available regular AWD torque 450 lb ft 498 lb ft
Maximum DC charging power 190 kW 150 kW
Maximum cargo volume with rear seats folded Approximately 1,722 litres Approximately 1,614 litres

Power Has More Than One Personality

Both models offer a standard single motor rear wheel drive layout and available dual motor all wheel drive. You can therefore choose your preferred body size without making AWD the deciding factor between them.
In their regular AWD configurations, the LYRIQ delivers more horsepower. The OPTIQ produces more torque. That distinction makes a blanket claim about which one feels less useful than an actual drive. Steering response and accelerator tuning also influence how a vehicle feels during everyday use.
Both provide Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice and My Mode settings. Tour is intended for everyday driving, while My Mode lets you adjust selected driving characteristics. Snow/Ice mode is designed to help manage wheelspin on slippery surfaces. It is useful support when conditions change, although appropriate tires and careful driving still matter.

Think About Tuesday Before Planning the Road Trip

For rear wheel drive versions, Cadillac estimates up to 525 km from a full charge in the LYRIQ and up to 510 km in the OPTIQ. The difference is 15 km. That gives the LYRIQ a modest advantage in this particular comparison, but it should not overshadow how you expect to charge.
If charging at home fits your situation, your normal daily distance may matter more than the maximum range figure. For longer journeys, consider where you would stop and whether suitable chargers are available along your route. Cold weather, speed and cabin heating can affect the distance available from a charge.
Cadillac’s mobile and vehicle apps can help with route planning and locating compatible public charging stations. That makes charging access something you can investigate before committing to either SUV.

The Charging Details Worth Understanding

Both vehicles include a NACS charging port. The LYRIQ supports DC charging at up to 190 kW, compared with up to 150 kW for the OPTIQ. These are maximum charging capabilities, rather than speeds the vehicles maintain throughout every session.
For home charging, both begin with an 11.5 kW AC onboard charging module. A 19.2 kW module is available on specified configurations. Taking advantage of that higher capacity requires suitable charging equipment and electrical service. It is worth checking your home setup before selecting an upgrade.
The OPTIQ’s Canadian information also explains that compatible non NACS chargers can be used with a GM approved adapter. Think about the chargers you expect to use regularly and confirm the equipment needed for your chosen vehicle.

Comfort Is in the Trim Details

The LYRIQ Premium Luxury and Premium Sport add ventilated front seats with lumbar massage. They also include a 23 speaker AKG Studio Audio System and next generation Active Noise Cancellation. The latter uses the audio system to help reduce road noise within the cabin.
The OPTIQ takes a different approach to equipment. Its Luxury and Sport trims already include a 19 speaker AKG Studio Audio System with Dolby Atmos. Premium Luxury and Premium Sport add ventilated and massaging front seats, heated rear outboard seats and a Head Up Display.
These differences are a good reason to compare specific trims instead of model names alone. Someone who values music may find plenty to appreciate in an entry OPTIQ. Someone looking for the LYRIQ’s added sound insulation features may prefer a Premium version.

A Shared Screen With Different Surroundings

Both models feature a standard 33 inch Horizon Display. Their cabins also offer 126 colour lighting, so choosing the smaller SUV does not mean giving up Cadillac’s broad digital display or adjustable cabin atmosphere.
The OPTIQ brings its own material choices. Its patterned accent fabric uses yarn made from recycled materials. Available PaperWood trim combines Tulipwood with recycled newspaper. The LYRIQ offers a different visual character through its sculpted exterior and distinctive illuminated front end.
Both support Google built in features and wireless software updates. Full functionality for connected services requires the applicable subscriptions. Spend some time with the menus and voice controls during a visit, since these are features you will interact with every day.

Helpful Support on Busy Roads

Super Cruise capability is standard on both models with a three year OnStar One plan. It allows hands free driving on compatible roads when operating conditions are met. The driver must remain attentive and ready to take control.
Both also offer an extensive safety feature set that includes Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. These systems provide assistance rather than a guarantee against collisions. Weather, visibility and road conditions can affect their operation.
